In short
OpenTrader has no accounts and sells nothing. The app and the online demo send usage statistics so we can see which features are used and from where. You can switch them off at any time. Your IP address is kept only if you agree to it.
What the statistics contain
- Which features are used: the app being opened, an indicator added, a drawing tool picked, an alert created, the screener opened, a layout saved, a snapshot taken, the desktop download link clicked.
- The app version, whether it is the desktop app or the online demo, the operating system and a rounded screen width.
- A random identifier: one per desktop installation, one per browser tab session in the online demo. It is not linked to your name, email or anything else about you.
- Your city, region and country, as estimated from your connection by our network provider. Your IP address itself is not passed on.
- Only if you choose Allow: your IP address.
They never contain the symbols you look at, your watchlists, drawings, layouts, alerts or anything you type. Those stay on your computer (or in your browser for the online demo).
Why, and on what basis
To decide what to improve and to see where OpenTrader is used. The statistics without IP address rest on our legitimate interest in improving a free project; the IP address rests on your consent.
Where it goes, and for how long
Statistics pass through our relay on Cloudflare and are stored by PostHog (analytics service, United States). They are kept for up to one year. No cookies are used.
Your choices
- Switch the statistics off, or withdraw your consent for the IP address, in Settings > Service > Privacy (desktop app and online demo).
- Ask what we hold about an identifier, or to delete it, by opening an issue (the identifier is shown in no personal way, so tell us roughly when and from where you used the app).
Market data
Charts and quotes come from our own server. Requests for market data carry the symbols you open, but they are not stored with any identifier and are not part of the statistics.
